Working together works wonders
Working hand-in-hand with our client and a number of supporting organizations, Meeting Consultants instituted a four-tier strategy to make an event that would be as green as possible. First, new procedures were implemented to avoid use of resources that tended to produce trash. Second, attendees were informed about the new procedures, told why they were so important, and encouraged to take part. Third, an active measurement program was put in place to provide reportable results. Fourth, in addition to recycling, re-use opportunities were identified for items not easily recyclable.
Focus on the Four R’s: reducing, reusing, recycling, repurposing
These initiatives were put in place to lessen the conference’s impact on the environment:

Printed materials were reduced and SmartSite kiosks were made available so attendees could e-mail informational materials from the conference |

Containers were set up to recycle attendees’ badge holders at the end of the event |

Vinyl conference banners were repurposed into tote bags |

Extensive use of digital and electronic signage was used instead of other printed materials |

Linen service was made optional in guest rooms for every 3 days or on checkout only |
